Straight Kitchen
This is one of the simplest shape of a modular kitchen and whole kitchen is visible in a single view. All zones of a kitchen are on the same line. It is a simplest but require a meticulous planning for its design to suit a women’s working style. These are designed on a single wall i.e a single counter without any island or breakfast counter. Such kitchens are suitable for narrow spaces and small houses/flats. The straight design can give it a perfectly stunning look by designing it properly. This may contain tall cabinet or refrigerator on one side, cleaning zone on another side with a central hob unit. Another advantage of straight kitchen is – we can design same width base and wall unit cabinets. Further these are easy to maintain and clean, more people can work together for performing different functions at same time. However, somebody needs more movement for executing one function to another.

L Shape Kitchen
L Shape kitchen where two adjoining walls are considered for kitchen design. It contains a corner where users can get installed a fancy and good looking corner fittings such as – Magic/Moving corner, D tray, S carousel or 3/4th corner. Such kitchens are more suitable in bigger rooms where kitchen adjoins a casual area of home like common area, living room etc. This is not necessary L shape kitchen always adjoins a casual area, in some houses people also design double L shape kitchens covering two opposite corners of a room and leaving space on both ends for appliances like refrigerator etc.
This is one of the most prevailed kitchen shape among Indian context. It has a shorter workflow-motion triangle. L shape kitchen is richer in designing part as customers have varied choices to keep their sink area, hob or cooking area, tall larder units etc. apart from each other. With a corner in between, there is a larger worktop area. People can opt for Solid shutters in base units and glass shutters in wall units which looks very gracious and elegant.
Gallery Kitchen
Two counter tops opposite of each other and one side of each counter is open, then it is a Gallery or parallel kitchen. When we count as cooking parameter of a kitchen, parallel kitchen or Gallery kitchen is considered as most efficient layout design. With the availability of two worktops, both wet and dry work spaces can be split on separate worktops. Dry worktops having the cooking surface in the middle seems to be the most popular arrangement. This makes more sense with center cooking area as you need less for getting food from refrigerator or from surrounding cupboards etc.
This kind of kitchen is suitable for larger rooms and this can be easily adaptable for cooking needs. It is recommended there should be at least 1.2 meters floor distance between two opposite sides for unrestricted access to base unit cabinets of your kitchen. It has an advantage of plenty of counter space for appliances and for storage also.
Island Kitchen
It is often considered as Luxurious kitchen around the world and becoming a trend with people who believe in open living. It is either a combination of L-shaped or straight kitchen with a free standing island space. An Island modular kitchen is very versatile and flexible shape because it helps in designing separate storage and cooking or cleaning space.
An Island can provide multiple options either this can be used as a cooking area with a stove top or a sink area or moreover can be used a breakfast counter and below area as storage area. With an advantage of two working tops, this kitchen layout is an ideal layout for more open space living. This kind of kitchen is also more entertaining as people can work and gossiping each other or can watch TV etc. as it is more open by working space.
U Shape Kitchen
If you are fond of cooking, want more storage area with maximum base and wall units, U shape kitchen is more suitable and most efficient for your needs. In addition to, this kitchen has an advantage of large working tops for easy appliance setup and working. This kind of kitchen fits into large and longer spaces. This kitchen layout is ideal for bigger family.
With three walls of cabinets, this layout is more practical and it is ideal for medium or large sized room with an advantage of maximum work space and storage. However if not designed properly, it could have less floor area for easy movement. This kind of layout is only recommended when there should be at least 1.2 of floor area between two opposite sides. If there is less space, we can have narrow width of one counter top to increase the floor gap between two counter tops.
It is highly recommended, you should go for this type of kitchen layout only if we have enough space for after all kitchen is set at its place.
G Shape Kitchen
G shape kitchen is an extension of U shape kitchen. This type of kitchen offers a tremendous storage area. The maximum counter top area further reachable and useful during the overall cooking process. The optimized floor plan of G shape kitchen provides cleaning, preparation and cooking within a comfortable accessible positions of different segments and items for optimized and highly efficient cooking experience.
The extension to U shape kitchen which makes it a G shape kitchen is called Peninsula. In most of kitchens, island is a best addition, but most of the kitchens are lacking to sensibly fit one of the usable size at the central location of available kitchen area. In opposite of this, Peninsula is in sync of size and shape to an overall kitchen. However, it is becoming popular because it is practical as well. Chef can use the enhanced space to primary cooking area of kitchen triangle by making this as a storage for larger utensils and counter for preparation. This can also be used as secondary cooking area with an installation of additional cooking top.
